Base Optics 400m Day / Night Vision Viewer, user manual. carry case, lens cloth.
1. What is the Base Optics 400m viewer used for?
It’s a digital day/night vision device used for spotting and observing objects in low light or complete darkness, typically for wildlife watching, security checks, or pest control.
2. How far can it actually see at night?
It’s rated for up to around 400 metres in night conditions, depending on lighting, weather, and how reflective the target is.
3. Does it work in total darkness?
Yes. It uses a built-in 850nm infrared (IR) illuminator, which lights up the scene so the sensor can “see” even when it’s pitch black.
4. Can it be used during the day as well?
Yes, it works in daylight too and automatically switches between day and night viewing modes.
5. What kind of image does it produce?
It displays a black-and-white image on a built-in LCD screen, giving you a clear digital view of what the sensor is picking up.
6. Does it have zoom?
Yes. It has 4x optical magnification plus up to 2x digital zoom, letting you get a closer look at distant subjects.
7. Can it record photos or video?
Yes, it includes built-in recording functions and usually comes with a memory card so you can save photos and video directly.
8. How is the image quality?
It uses a 640×480 CMOS sensor, which is solid for entry-level digital night vision but not comparable to high-end military-grade systems.
9. What powers it and how long does it last?
It runs on AA batteries or external power, typically giving around a few hours of continuous use depending on IR usage.
10. Is it good for professional use?
It’s more of a hobbyist / entry-level observation device. Great for casual night spotting and pest control, but not intended for tactical or high-end professional surveillance work.
