Rangefinding Reticle
The rangefinding reticle can be used to calculate distance between you and the object you are looking at. This can be extremely important in nautical environments assisting as a visual check and as a failsafe to on-board navigation systems.
The rangefinding reticle is made up of a grid-like pattern of lines that are segmented into Milliradians, known sometimes as Mils. A milliradian is a unit of angle that can be used to calculate the distance of a known sized object.

2. What is the rangefinding reticle for?
It helps you estimate distance to objects of known size, useful for marine navigation and identifying vessels.
3. What magnification does it have?
It has 7× magnification, chosen for stability on moving water and wide-area scanning.
4. What size are the lenses?
It uses 50mm objective lenses, giving strong light-gathering ability for brighter views in poor conditions.
5. Is it good in low light?
Yes—this is one of its strengths. The 7×50 setup performs very well at dawn, dusk, and overcast conditions thanks to the large exit pupil.
6. Is it waterproof and fog-proof?
Yes, it’s nitrogen-purged and fully sealed, designed to withstand marine environments and prevent internal fogging.
7. Does it float if dropped in water?
It includes a floating neck strap, helping reduce the risk of losing it overboard.
8. Is the compass always accurate?
It’s designed for northern hemisphere use (UK/USA regions), so performance can vary outside those zones.
9. Is it heavy?
Yes, it’s fairly substantial at around 915g, typical for a full-size marine 7x50 with compass.
10. Who is it best suited for?
