At its core is the Tactical Dot reticle, optimised for rapid target acquisition with an illuminated central aim point and surrounding quick-acquisition circle, plus additional aim points spaced to 10 mils at 6x magnification for precise holdovers. The reticle offers six brightness levels with intuitive control via a stepped rheostat featuring off positions between each setting.
For absolute precision, the scope incorporates Hawke’s patented Zero Lock ‘n’ Stop elevation turret, delivering repeatable and secure adjustments in 1/10 MRAD increments. A wide-angle field of view, ranging from 37.6 to 6.3 metres at 100 metres, is paired with a high-volume eyebox and generous 100mm eye relief, ensuring comfort and speed when transitioning between targets.

What is the difference between First Focal Plane (FFP) and Second Focal Plane (SFP)?

First Focal Plane (FFP): The reticle grows and shrinks proportionally as you change magnification. This means the hashmarks (holdovers) mean the exact same distance whether you are at 3x or 18x power, allowing for fast holdovers at any setting.

Second Focal Plane (SFP): The reticle stays the exact same size regardless of your zoom level. This keeps the crosshairs thin and easy to see, but your holdover markings are only mathematically accurate at one specific magnification setting (usually the maximum power).
What does the "Zero Lock" system do on the turrets?
The Zero Lock feature prevents accidental turret rotation when you are moving through heavy brush or handling your rifle. Once you have sighted in your rifle and locked down your "zero," the turret mechanically stops from turning further downward and locks securely in place. To make an adjustment, you simply push down or unlock the turret to dial your correction, ensuring you never accidentally lose your baseline setting.
Why do some Frontier models use a 34mm tube while others use a 30mm tube?
A larger 34mm main tube provides increased internal housing space for the lenses and mechanical components. This allows the scope to have a significantly wider range of internal elevation and windage adjustments, which is vital for long-range shooters who need to dial heavily for bullet drop at extreme distances. A 30mm tube is lighter and sleeker, making it ideal for standard hunting and mid-range tactical configurations.
What is the purpose of "Side Focus" (SF)?
Side Focus is a control knob located opposite the windage turret that corrects for parallax error—a subtle optical misalignment where the reticle and target don't sit on the exact same focal plane. Adjusting the Side Focus ensures that your target remains perfectly sharp and your point of aim doesn't shift if you move your eye slightly off-center behind the scope.
