Napier Apex Airglo
If you’re serious about deer stalking or foxing, scent management is your number one priority. The Apex Airglo was developed by the experts at Napier to solve the problem of bulky, awkward wind checkers. This sleek, baton-style indicator is easy to find in a pocket and simple to operate with wet or gloved hands. It’s a small investment that makes a massive difference in your success rate, ensuring you always stay downwind and undetected.
The Napier Apex Airglo is an essential tool for serious stalkers, designed to help monitor wind direction and reduce the risk of detection by deer. Recognising that deer rely heavily on scent as their primary defence, with around 65% of their awareness linked to smell, the Airglo allows hunters to check and re-check ground-level airflow easily during a stalk, ensuring a safer and more successful approach.
Unlike bulky or awkward alternatives, the Airglo features a compact dispenser that fits conveniently in the pocket. It comes with a camo neoprene sleeve, belt clip, and neck cord for quick access in the field. Lightweight, practical, and simple to use, the Airglo provides stalkers with a reliable way to stay undetected and maintain control over every approach.

1. What is the primary purpose of the Apex Airglo?
The Apex Airglo is a dual-purpose tool designed for hunters and stalkers. It functions as both a wind direction indicator (helping you stay downwind of your quarry) and a trail marker (to help you retrace your steps or mark a specific location like a shot site).
2. Is the powder safe and non-toxic?
Yes. Unlike some competitors that may contain harmful chemicals or lead, the Airglo uses a completely non-toxic, non-staining, and odourless fine mist powder. This makes it safe to handle and ensures it won't alert animals with a chemical scent.
3. Can I use it with one hand or while wearing gloves?
Absolutely. The bottle is ergonomically designed in a "baton" shape specifically for one-handed operation. The flip-top cap is silent and easy to operate even if your hands are cold, wet, or covered by thick hunting gloves.
4. How does it work as a trail marker?
When used vertically, the bottle releases a fine mist to check the wind. However, if you invert the bottle and squeeze, it dispenses a more concentrated amount of powder onto the ground or foliage. Because the powder is insoluble in water, it remains visible for some time to help you retrace your path.
5. What comes in the package?
Each pack contains one Airglo dispenser bottle (pre-filled with 40g of powder) and a protective Realtree AP camo neoprene sleeve. The sleeve includes both a belt clip and a neck lanyard for multiple carrying options.
6. How long will one bottle last?
The bottle contains 40 grams of ultra-fine powder. Because the dispenser is designed to release only a tiny "puff" of mist at a time, a single bottle is sufficient for many hunting trips and hundreds of individual wind checks.
7. Will the powder stain my clothes or gear?
No. The powder is formulated to be non-staining. If it gets on your gear or clothing, it can typically be brushed off easily without leaving any permanent marks or residue.
8. Is the operation silent?
Yes, stealth is a priority for this product. The cap and the squeezing mechanism are designed to be silent so you can check the wind direction in close proximity to a deer without being detected by sound.
9. Why is checking the wind so important for deer stalking?
Research suggests that a deer’s primary defense is its sense of smell (accounting for roughly 65% of its detection ability). Since a human exhales thousands of liters of scent daily, checking the wind frequently—not just at the start of a stalk—is vital to ensuring your scent isn't carried toward the animal.
10. Is the powder affected by rain?
While the powder is insoluble in water (which helps it stay put when used as a trail marker), the mist is most effective in dry to damp conditions. In extremely heavy rain, the fine particles may be forced to the ground more quickly, but it will still provide an immediate indication of the breeze direction.
