Valdada Recon G2 4.8-30x56 FFP Illum MOA MOA SF Rifle Scope + Free 40mm Rings (New Reticle)
The Valdada Recon G2 was created by Val of Valdada Optics in Texas, USA, who has been the state's importer for IOR Bucharesti Optics for years.
He has taken his wealth of knowledge and experience from selling the complete IOR range and created an optic that is in our opinion near enough perfect.
By taking the best features from the IOR range of optics and changing the design and specifications that in the past have put people off, the IOR Valdada Recon G2 was born.
The Valdada Recon G2 4.8-30x56 has been designed with long-range, ultra-precision shooting in mind. Constructed with a generous 40mm main tube that gives a maximum 150 MOA (42 MILS) of internal adjustment. To enable to ultimate in long range shooting this adjustment range has not been limited, which will mean that optical integrity is somewhat compromised at the extreme ends of the turret travel (TOP & BOTTOM) to retain perfect optical performance.
To keep the scope in its sweet spot it is advised to keep the turret adjustment in the center of its travel like any rifle scope. This can be obtained with either an Adjustable MOA / MIL base such as the Heritage Arms which allow you to zero the rifle at your preferred zero point and use the adjustment within the base.
The Valdada Recon G2 4.8-30x56 contains the best German Schott Optical Glass on the market - and with a world-first pairing of Japanese ED glass being used in both the Objective and Ocular lenses, this creates an excellent combination of colour rendition, resolution and contrast; not too warm and not to close to the blue spectrum. Just, perfect for tactical style shooting & hunting. The benefits of the Japanese ED glass are bought in by providing excellent light transmission, colour rendition and an eye box that is extremely un-fussy; helping to give the shooter that cooler and brighter white image that is so popular across many alpha-glass manufacturers like Schmidt & Bender + Vortex. This really does give the shooter that instant 'WOW! This is bright' factor. This superb optical system from Valdada has Zero Colour Aberration and is easily on the same pedestal that Zeiss, Schmidt & Kahles are on.
When it comes to its internals and mechanics the Valdada Recon G2 is simple and straight forward. It has 150 MOA (42mils of vertical adjustment), 1/4 MOA clicks and 25 MOA per revolution. The precise and quick Zero Stop setting ensures you never lose your zero position after a day of 'dialing'. The Mag Lock support system - on the reticle mechanism block and 4'' eye relief - shows where the Valdada Recon G2's real position is on long-range rifles, such as .375 Cheytac's, 408's and 50 BMG's.
AVAILABLE IN: MOA / 1/4 MOA or MIL / 0.1 MRAD.
The Valdada Recon G2 4.8-30x56 will come with a premium set of Picatinny Scope Rings, Sunshade, 40mm Bubble Level & a pair of premium Flip Covers.

How does the optical system of this scope compare to other premium long-range scopes?
The Recon G2 uses a multi-element premium glass system designed to deliver high resolution, strong contrast, and very accurate colour reproduction. This reduces haze and colour fringing when observing distant targets, which is especially important when spotting impacts or reading mirage.
Does the large objective actually improve low-light performance?
Yes. The large objective combined with high-quality lens coatings allows more usable light to reach the shooter’s eye. This improves image brightness and contrast in dawn, dusk, or heavily shaded environments.
How noticeable is colour fringing at high magnification?
Chromatic aberration is very well controlled. High-contrast edges, such as steel targets against bright sky, show minimal colour fringing even near maximum magnification.
Is the reticle illumination reliable and consistent?
The illumination system is designed to be electrically isolated from the optical and mechanical system. This ensures brightness changes never affect zero, reticle alignment, or optical focus.
How effective is the zero stop during rapid dialing?
The mechanical zero stop allows the elevation turret to return instantly to the rifle’s zero point without guessing or over-rotating, even after dialing large corrections for long-range shots.
Does dialing to extreme distances degrade optical quality?
Like any precision optic, pushing adjustments to the far edges of the travel range slightly shifts the internal lens system. However, the Recon G2 is designed to maintain very usable clarity and alignment even when heavily dialed.
How does the turret feel when making fine adjustments?
The turrets provide firm, well-defined clicks with no sponginess. This makes it easy to make small corrections without overshooting, even under pressure.
How does the larger tube diameter help in real shooting?
The large tube gives the internal lens system more room to move, allowing more adjustment travel and better mechanical stability when dialing large corrections.
Can it handle high-recoil calibres?
Yes. The internal structure is engineered to withstand strong recoil without reticle movement or loss of tracking accuracy.
Is the reticle useful for holding wind and elevation instead of dialing?
The reticle layout supports precise holding for both wind and elevation, allowing fast target engagement without touching the turrets.
How comfortable is the eye relief across the zoom range?
Eye relief remains consistent and forgiving, which reduces fatigue and makes it easier to maintain a stable shooting position at high magnification.
How well does the scope maintain contrast at long distances?
High-quality glass and coatings allow targets to “pop” from the background, making it easier to distinguish impacts, mirage, and subtle terrain details.
Does the image soften at the edges at high magnification?
Some mild edge softness is normal at extreme zoom, but the centre of the image remains sharp and highly detailed, which is where precision aiming occurs.
How effective is the illumination in changing light conditions?
The illuminated reticle helps maintain aiming point visibility when shooting into shadows, backlit targets, or during dawn and dusk without overpowering the image.
Is this scope suited for both tactical and hunting use?
Yes. It offers the precision needed for competition and tactical shooting, while also providing the optical performance and low-light ability needed for serious hunting.
How forgiving is the eyebox during dynamic shooting?
The eyebox is generous enough to allow slight head movement without losing the sight picture, which is important when shooting from improvised positions.
Why is keeping adjustments near the center important?
Optics perform best when the internal lenses are near their neutral position. Using an angled rail keeps adjustments near center, preserving maximum clarity and tracking precision.
How does this scope compare to other high-end optics mechanically?
It offers comparable tracking accuracy, turret feel, and optical stability to other premium long-range scopes, with a design focused on durability and precision.
Does the scope stay bright at very high magnification?
Yes. Efficient coatings and a large light-gathering system keep the image bright and usable even at high zoom.
How well does it perform in rain, fog, or cold?
The scope is sealed and purged to prevent internal fogging and moisture intrusion, making it reliable in harsh weather.
Who is this scope best suited for?
This optic is ideal for long-range competitors, tactical shooters, and precision hunters who demand reliable tracking, strong low-light performance, and excellent optical clarity.
