Why Choose the C3 Compact?

Q: What is the main advantage of the ultra-compact length?

Q: When is a compact scope not the best choice?
A: If you mainly shoot long-range or prefer large objective lenses for maximum light gathering, a full-size 40–50 mm scope may suit better. Compact scopes prioritise handling over extreme low-light performance.
Q: How close can this scope focus?
A: The adjustable objective focuses down to approximately 3 yards, making it excellent for air rifle shooting, indoor ranges, and short garden distances where many scopes cannot focus sharply.
Q: Is the 3-yard focus useful for firearms as well?
A: Yes for rimfire and short-range work, but it is especially valuable for air rifles and close-range zeroing. Centrefire shooters generally do not need focus this close.
Q: What does Second Focal Plane (SFP) mean?
A: In an SFP scope, the reticle stays the same size as magnification changes. This gives a consistent, clear sight picture. Mildot measurements are accurate at a specific magnification (usually stated by the manufacturer).
Q: Is SFP good or bad?
A: SFP is ideal for most hunting, airgun, and general shooting. It keeps the reticle easy to see at low magnification and uncluttered at higher magnification.
Q: Is this scope suitable for air rifles?
A: Yes. The close 3-yard focus and compact size make it very popular for air rifle setups.
Q: Is it suitable for rimfire rifles?
A: Yes. The magnification range and size are well matched to rimfire shooting distances.
Q: Is this scope good for low-light shooting?
A: It performs well for its size, but larger objective scopes will gather more light. The priority here is compactness and handling.
Q: Does this scope have locking turrets?
A: Yes. The elevation and windage turrets are lockable, helping prevent accidental movement once your zero is set.
Q: Why are locking turrets useful?
A: Locking turrets stop your zero being knocked when the rifle is carried, stored, or used in the field. This is especially useful on hunting rifles and air rifles that are moved around frequently.
Q: Do the turrets reset to zero?
A: Yes. After zeroing, the turrets can be reset to zero, allowing you to return to your original zero position easily after making adjustments.
Q: Are the turrets intended for frequent dialing?
A: The turrets allow adjustment and zero reset, but this scope is primarily designed for set-and-forget shooting rather than constant long-range dialing. This suits air rifle, rimfire, and hunting use very well.
Q: Is zero reset the same as a zero stop?
A: No. Zero reset allows you to re-index the turret scale to zero. A zero stop physically limits downward travel. This scope features zero reset, not a mechanical zero stop.
Q: Is turret locking common on compact scopes?
A: No. Locking turrets are relatively uncommon on ultra-compact scopes, making this a useful feature for maintaining zero on lightweight setups.
