How do I know when the correct torque has been reached?
The F.A.T. Stix use a "click" or "break" style mechanism. When you reach the preset torque value while tightening, the limiter will provide a distinct audible click and a tactile "slip" or break, signaling that you should stop turning
Can I use these to loosen tight or stuck screws?
It is not recommended to use torque limiters for loosening (breaking) fasteners. Using them as a regular wrench to loosen high torque or seized screws can damage the internal precision mechanism. It is best to use a standard T-handle or screwdriver to loosen screws and use the F.A.T. Stix only for the final tightening.
Do I need to "zero out" or reset the tools after use?
Unlike traditional adjustable torque wrenches that use a large internal spring that must be dialed back to the lowest setting for storage, these are individual preset "stix." There is no adjustment knob or tension to release, so they are ready for storage as soon as you finish the job.
Are the bits interchangeable with other tools?
Yes. The set uses standard 1/4" hex bits. This means you can use the bits included in the kit with other drivers, or you can use your own specialty bits (like metric hex or different Torx sizes) with the F.A.T. Stix limiters.
Can the F.A.T. Stix be recalibrated?
These tools are factory calibrated and generally not designed to be serviced or recalibrated by the user. If you suspect a "stick" is no longer accurate after years of heavy use, it is typically replaced rather than adjusted.
Why is there a "spin section" on the T-handle?
The T-handle features a free spinning sleeve. This allows you to steady the tool with one hand while rapidly spinning the handle with the other to drive the screw in quickly before the final torquing process begins.
What happens if I need a torque value that isn't included (e.g., 20 in-lbs)?
Because these are preset limiters, you can only achieve the specific values provided in the set (15, 25, 35, 45, 55, and 65 in-lbs). If your manufacturer requires a specific intermediate value like 20 in-lbs, you would need to use a variable/adjustable torque wrench instead.
Is the carry case durable enough for a range bag?
Yes, the set comes in a compact, soft sided zippered carry case with custom-molded inserts. It is designed to keep the limiters and bits organized and protected from impacts or debris while being transported to the range or kept in a toolbox.
