Hawke Tactical 1" 9-11mm Dovetail Rifle Scope Mount Rings - EXTRA HIGH
Hawke 2 Piece Tactical Match Mounts 9-11mm - Extra High
These are extra‑high rings designed for shooters who want larger objectives or thicker scope bodies.
They look bold, and perform where lower mounts won’t suffice.
- Triple Torx Screws Hold Your Scope Firmly In Place
- Internal Cushion Prevents Marking & Damage
- Matte Black Anodised High Grade Alumni
Height and Clearance: With a 36 mm base‑to‑centre height, you’ll get considerably more space under the objective than with standard or medium rings. These can allow a scope with a maximum "Outer" objective diameter of 70mm i.e., the very biggest scopes are fine. They are as much for when a lot of height is needed as for simply a big lens scope.

Q1: What size objectives will these rings fit without touching the rifle?
These extra‑high rings have a 36 mm base‑to‑centre height. That means you have 36 mm of vertical space from the top of the rail to the centre of the scope tube.
To check whether your scope will clear:
-
Measure the outer diameter of your scope’s objective bell (the casing, not just the lens).
-
Divide by 2 → that gives the radius.
-
If that radius is under 36 mm, the scope objective should clear the rifle when mounted on this ring set.
Example:
-
A scope with a 70 mm outer objective has a radius of 35 mm → ✅ Fits with about 1 mm clearance.
-
A 72 mm outer objective = 36 mm radius → ❌ Will touch – not suitable on a flat rail.
⚠️ Scopes are always referred to by their lens diameter, not the outer housing diameter and that outer casing can vary significantly between models. Always verify with the full objective housing -
The biggest difference comes from AO (Adjustable Objective) scopes, which have a much thicker objective casing.
✅ Example:
-
A 50 mm AO scope often has an outer diameter of ~64 mm
-
A non‑AO 50 mm scope may only be ~57 mm
That 7 mm difference can make or break your setup — and has caused many avoidable returns.
Always physically measure your scope’s objective bell to ensure it will clear.
Q2: Does the recoil stop pin matter?
Yes—it helps prevent the scope and rings from shifting backwards under recoil, aiding in zero retention. Only one pin is needed; ensure it aligns correctly with your receiver’s hole.
Q3: Is it durable enough for heavy use?
Definitely. The ring’s build is heavy-duty anodised aluminium, with cushion tape to protect finish, and strong cap screws to hold tight even under recoil.
Q4: Can I mount large objectives without raised rails?
With these rings, yes—for objectives that meet the clearance test above. If your objective is larger than allowed, a raised rail or base will give you extra height.
Q5: Will this height negatively affect the rifle’s balance or feel?
Possibly—more height can affect cheek weld and sight alignment. But many users prefer the trade‑off for the benefit of not having the objective scrape against the barrel or handguard.
Q6: Are these rings suitable for airguns, rimfire, or heavy‑scope setups?
Yes—they are especially suitable where scope size or casing demands extra height. Just run through the clearance check, and you’ll see if your setup works on a flat rail or if elevation is needed.
